I think they protected a LOT more, before the people started attacking them right and left.
The supreme court ruled in multiple instances that police do not have the obligation to protect you from injury, or being murdered.
Their was a time before BLM came along that public sentiment towards police killing unarmed whites was high.
Right after that cop on the east coast shot and killed a librarian leaving a library after closing, without any notice to the librarian who was just leaving and did not see him, and without any danger to the officer who ran behind her car and fired multiple times.
This cop was not prosecuted, even though it would be a guaranteed conviction by a jury.
Then BLM came out as a "FUCK WHITE PEOPLE!" movement and was the biggest gift to law enforcement in this country.
Whites are killed at a far higher rate per police interaction than blacks, because the police don't worry about any blowback from killing a white person.
