I spent 20 years around united states air force posts and army bases. 11 Of that working on an overseas base on an overnight shift in the midst of new blooded 24 hour shifters. I started out as a small timer "selling" alchohol to already drunk soldiers and their familes as well as other trash they shouldnt be buying. Ended up as a contractor.

Came 48 hours away from a deployment to run the ship in Iraq for 6-9 months which I backed out of at the last second because of a family emergency.

Im explaining all this to tell you I still have zero clue what people in Uniform go through. Maybe I would have if I took that deployment. Nothing really does it justice when one year you walk outside and theres all kinds of sporting events going on on post weekly, and the next its a desolate wasteland and you have no idea whats happening to those people you were playing football and baseball with the months before.
