Never underestimate the ability of the GOP to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory. Unfortunately, the dweeb wing still runs the show, for now. You know, the ones who don't know that America is almost entirely subverted by Commie spooks and that there's no reason for Conservatism as there's nothing left to "conserve."
When right wing populist politicians take over the GOP is the first chance there is for a just, innovative, safe, prosperous country to be a thing again.
This. The leak of the SCOTUS opinion attacking women's rights isn't going to help them in the mid-terms. Also sitting presidents usually get shellacked on their midterm election, so it would be normal for the GOP to win a lot of races in this situation, this is just American politics playing out.
But Trump would have cruised to reelection unless he actively worked to estrange himself from so many voters, which he did relentlessly. His antics do not get any new voters and only serve to turn them off. The Hunter Biden dick fiasco is something for the history books....nobody cares about Hunter Biden smoking crack in Ukraine with hookers as the sitting president was actually sued by a hooker for things months earlier so it was inconsequential.
We will see how much Trump is featured in this next election. Most Americans do not like him and at this point he is keeping the loyal based hyped up but not doing any favors to people running in elections where voters are moderate.
I would say the GOP needs to stay on message and avoid the Trump stuff but I don't think they have a message outside of Trump anymore.
The GOP today is like "we're going to stop the blacks, gays, working families, and liberals, from having good lives!". Not sure if that is a winning message. I'm not sure if any of the people who are simple enough to get upset at the CRT stuff are the kinds of people who vote....they seem like the "I don't need Obamacare because I have the affordable care act" kind of people. Make a bunch of facebook posts and act emotional etc.
We will see. Its Joe Biden and he sucks, but the alternative was Trump, in which he looks really really good compared to. We will see what the alternative vision is and if it has changed. If the GOP ends up running Trump again it will be because nobody in the GOP has the balls to say that the emperor has no clothes and was beaten by several million votes in an electoral landslide, and that the whole party has been lying to themselves about it ever since, and his nomination would be the codification of that psychosis.
Some people actually believe that Trump won the election over Joe Biden. These people are the GOPs biggest problem. The biggest gift the GOP could give to the Dems would be to keep this Trump train going past these mid terms and into another election. Its so much easier to attack people than institutions and he is such a narcissist he can't not take the bait. That is why Pelosi owned him in every interaction they've had and why he ends up with his tail between his legs when meeting european heads of state. Remember when he talked all that shit about Theresa May and acted like her pussycat in her presence? He can only punch down; you can't grab a more powerful person by the pussy.
Please keep the train going for another 4 and a half years.

Yeah, honestly it will be a bloodbath. People care mostly about the economy, notably inflation, therefore the defeat is warranted because the Dems haven't really delivered on that front at all. And the way the far left are alienating their own base with the untenable cringe takes and pushing independents towards the right doesn't help at all. It's pretty disheartening - my 2016 PTSD is flaring up again. :D
Its a mid term. These things are cyclical. Biden will probably end up being a lame duck. These kinds of sessions are pretty productive though, because lame duck sessions get boring bipartisan laws moved through we might get some moderate governance.
I would rather have a Republican president and Democratic congress rather than the other way around though. Republican Congress with a Dem president is usually kind of lame lol. At that point the congress obstructs obstructs obstructs. Democratic presidents are the only presidents interested in working with leaders across the isle.
All of this is my opinion and I'm stating it with zero authority on the matter.
I'm not a fan of Joe Biden as the leader of the free world. Angela Merkel was the leader of the free world and she is retired from that. Macron seems to be doing a lot of the heavy lifting now but he is looking more and more worried probably because he has a direct line to Putin and knows that things are getting fucked up in Russia and wider war is on the horizon. I think Putin is dying and the second he dies its possible Chechnya and Georgia rebels. Kadyrov has expressed loyalty to Putin and not Russia and is a big poison pill to anyone taking Putin's place on day one, especially if it is a coup. Putin's chosen successor is way scarier and more terrible of a human than Putin. Eastern Europe will remain on fire. I would like the GOP to produce a leader who can effectively lead the US while this is going on. The US foreign policy is entirely dictated, necessarily, solely by the President of the United States, and the last election we had to choose between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, two men in their 70s. The onus is on the GOP to produce someone who is presidential. Please do so and I will vote for them.
