Endless printing (which is enabled by world reserve currency status) hurts the small individual and helps whoever gets to line up at the trough first. Hint, that's not you, or me. Only the politically-entrenched and their owners. We have to earn relatively tiny amounts of dollars which we hope retains their purchasing power. When it doesn't, that's a form of theft. You.... actually think the fed has your best interests at heart?
Absolutely, I agree that monetary policy should be careful. I would say a large part of this inflation we're experiencing is a result of stimulus and giving so much money away during the pandemic. Kind of a back end whiplash. People just start raising their prices when demand goes back up though. And capitalism isn't left to its own devices so stuff is stuck everywhere logistically which is another driver. I view the second part as temporary and the first part as a one time shot that people really needed in the moment by we're paying for now.
I don't know why they would give me a stimulus and give me a tax bill in the same year. It honestly seems schizophrenic. We are going to have a very good year this year so its going to be much worse. One reason I like Republicans is that my wife and I pay a lot less in taxes when they're in office. But it seems like the country gets shittier and I see way more people standing on corners asking for money and you see more old people working in fast food.
But the anti-democratic bias of capitalism being inherit is something I'm familiar with. I'm a long-time supporter of Bernie Sanders.
I'm not sure what Shakti is saying about Ukrainian baby smuggling being related to gold, I don't get it, but Ukrainian baby smuggling is definitely out of my locus of control and not something I can act on. I've been struggling more with buying meat I know is from mass murder places rather than actual farming which is something in my locus of control.
