Hello, in case you have family and friends in Europe who are Russians living here, is it illegal from now on to talk to them or to be nice to them?

Will they build concentration camps soon in Nazi Europe for Russians like they are doing in China against Muslims? Or are these thoughts too negative and this nightmare will be over soon (war over) ?

Some russians in Ireland are asked to attend an interview with an HR staff member and tell their political views. If they're supporting war in russia or being against war but supporting putin, they get fired.

I wonder what it’s doing to Russians that the seemingly whole world is now going full McCarthyism mode but like, weirdly? Seems like it’s mostly Putin pushing and the worlds kinda taking it out more on the Russian people than the leader. Banning Russian vodka? Renaming Moscow mules? Banning Russian web whores? But like, Putin is a super billionaire who essentially owns energy production in the East and just took over a nuclear plant. Bet there’s gonna be some russians like ayyy wtf I’m just some guy who lives here, cyka blyat I just play counter strike and it’s cold.

We have at-will employment in the US as well, and political beliefs aren't protected. For example my friend fired an employee he found out was really racist and just didn't want to work with a piece of shit everyday and fired him. If you're into genociding Ukrainians then that seems fair.

I think most Russians disagree with the war and think it is insanity. If they had a representative government they would do something.

The thing about Russia though: they send their scared to war and they put their bravest citizens in jail.

Normally this would be considered a violation of the first amendment, but lmao that's never stopped them. When an 83 year old W.E.B. Du Bois wrote treatises against nuclear proliferation during the cold war, the McCarthyist FBI accused him of being a Russian agent, filed charges against him under FARA and had his passport revoked so he'd be unable to attend peace conferences in Canada. He was arrested, handcuffed and dragged from his home by federal agents. He only got the charges dismissed at trial when it became too politically toxic for even the McCarthyists, when Albert Einstein showed up to be the first witness for the defense.

The FARA statute lay dormant for about 50 years and not a single prosecution went through with it at trial. But then it was resurrected by Robert Mueller, and now its being routinely used to target Russians and Russian sympathizers while ignoring the exact same thing out of China. Used to suppress RT America for the past few years until this week they were shut down entirely.

And lo and behold, just yesterday the DoJ announced they will charge a US citizen with being an illegal Russian agent because she "operated an organization to promote Russia". Elena Branson ran a promotional outreach campaign called "I Love Russia" and was co-chair of Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots, a group for Russian diaspora members to advocate for better US-Russia relations and cultural celebration. She fled to Russia a couple years ago fearing that the authoritarians in the US would find an excuse to charge her for expressing her pro-Russian views, and now they have- in absentia. The same statute they used crush that filthy pinko commie scum Du Bois under the jackbooted heel of the nazi regime Free and Democratic American Government
