On September 10, a 41-year old pharmacist from Indiana died of a heart attack while on her shift at CVS. According to one account, Ashleigh Anderson was experiencing chest pain and asked to leave work early. Her supervisor would not allow her to go and mandated that she stay up to two hours until a replacement could be found. Another pharmacist reported that she was threatened with “job abandonment” if she chose to leave. Ashleigh died on the floor with a coworker holding her head and a patient administering CPR. Fear of retaliation has kept many of the employees from speaking more about the tragic incident.

A friend I have is / was a head Pharmacist. He is now leaving it. Nothing to do with COVID.

-He had significant sales targets he had to hit.
-Tremendous pressure to push certain things that had higher margins.
-Completely unreasonable workload, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. No ability to take vacation unless they could find a pharmacist to step in during that period.

And the largest driving factor, unfulfilling work. The majority of this time he felt like a glorified cashier.

Happening all over. ICU nurses aren't supposed to have more than 1-2 patients. They've had 4+ for two years now all over the country. Hospitals paying garbage so people leave, which means the hospitals have to pay a premium for travel nurses, which means everybody leaves to become a travel nurse, which means the whole system goes slower because travel nurses don't know anything about where they show up to and are only there for 8 weeks.

Basically capitalism has introduced inefficiency to hospitals and medical service in general that would make communists blush.
