I've been telling people for at least two years that abortion will be completely banned in five years. Roe v Wade is poised to be overturned, reproductive self-determinism is about to go away for women, and not many people are making much noise about it because a religiously activists court is using the Covid story to take the headlines and keep the lights off of them.

This is going to lead to a crises of authority. SCOTUS is our highest power generally, and they are becoming increasingly activist, creating law themselves rather than ruling on laws on their Constitutionally. New Justice Barrett has already engaged in bad faith arguments like safe haven laws eliminate the need for abortions, as if physically having a child and using hospital services and being pregnant for several months isn't something that affects you.

My view is that the ban on abortion is going to lead to a constitutional crisis and the activist court will be at fault for this as they do not respect the history or rulings of the court they are on. They are content to rewrite history or pretend fundamental facts have changed.

Killing babies is bad.

Anyone who can't say this doesn't deserve a seat at the table.

You're right, Dred Scott was stare decisis. How dare activist courts overrule established precedent.

I don't think this is comparable. Dred Scott takes away rights from humans, this movement takes rights from humans as well.



We are talking about the first two trimesters here, so there isn't a baby. Roe v Wade allows states to ban abortion after 15 weeks, and declares anytime in the first trimester as a private health decision. The newest laws make abortion a felony after 7 weeks, which is before most women know they are pregnant and before there is any identifiable baby. It is unreasonable and extremely religiously authoritarian.

This is deeply troubling as this is all based on supernatural and superstitious beliefs like a Christian immortal soul and not a mind that is emergent from a body or brain. Now we are legislating based on supernatural beliefs and blocking safe and available medical procedures that are private health decisions.

This is a great triumph for patriarchy I suppose, in a long tradition of women being men's property and being told how they're allowed to live and breed by them and men just being right.

make abortion legal until the third month or so, thats plenty of time for the woman and be done with it
