Seems America needs to review this video

People will try to say this is a California exclusive problem, but we don't have a modern healthcare system, have eroded basic social safety nets that are common in the industrialized world, and our presidential candidates were a coup-inspiring narcicist and an ancient defender of the old guard who are both corporate shills.

We're a far-right authoritarian country and I'd prefer to live in Libertonia than a corporatocracy.

I'd like not having to cover several thousands of dollars if my mom goes to the ER, even though she has insurance.

I'd also like her not to have to transfer her house to my name decades before she dies so medicare doesn't take it if she racks up medical bills in her old age.

Honestly, just the fact that it's super common that the elderly lose their homes to medical bills instead of passing them on to build generational wealth is a good argument to modernize our healthcare system.

my mother has had a terrible past few years on health issues, and has the bills to prove it as well. but in many systems she wouldnt have been given the preventative care that racked those bills up.

medical debts is as compelling of an argument to me as the lack of care given in areas considered elective. and in classic american style we'd fail HARD at finding a compromise. its gonna be either tax the rich free healthcare that leads to a lack of healthcare for many people that may have gotten it (along with some debt) in the old system, or it's going to be a less than free system that still lumps people with debt.

my lack of interest in major changes to the system are more based in my lack of trust to do it right than what i think about 1st world global healthcare systems.
