In a sign of our times, swarms of people felt empowered to ignore all security precautions and boundaries at a concert in Houston and flooded as a rioting mob into the grounds, knocking down barricades and fences and checkpoints while being hostile to peace officers trying to restore order. When people got trampled and crushed by the push of the overpacked crowd, responding EMTs found themselves harassed and stopped from entering while people attacked their vehicles and danced on top of them. And the icons of soulless consumerism leading the show refused to cancel the concert and instead continued to play as the bodies were dragged out in front of them. They did make sure to send some instagram pics and tweets on a black background expressing their sympathies.
Once the mob mentality takes hold, the crowds are completely unphased by authorities, decency or the chaos around themselves. Once people realize they can get away with it, they do it. Nobody with billy clubs beating them back, nobody firing warning shots into the air, not a single arrest.

And a note (for trigger happy mods), the video here isn't graphic, this precedes the crush which occurred inside the grounds, this is how the mob reached critical density as people flooded in.

TIL mass panics are "a sign of our times", and didn't happen before.

damn, goon-shill. that required some serious spinning, trying to turn this tragedy, the death of eight human beings, into something you think you can exploit politically...

Look at all of those degenerate white thots, rushing the gates - desperate to get into the rap concert and score BBC.

Crowd crushes have been largely mitigated in the developed world by modern crowd management techniques and regulations on gatherings, which is the fire marshal's job. These are reforms that came after the most infamous events.
The fire marshal in houston and event planners had the proper crowd safety and maximum occupancy limits in place, which would have ordinarily prevented this exact kind of disaster

The reason people died yesterday is because mobs of people were free to riot and push their way over barricades and into the event. Those swarms of people blocked ways in and out, blocked EMTS, and raised the crowd density to dangerous levels. People died because of the collective lawless actions of the group. That's a significant distinction between crowd crushes that occur due to bad planning or oversold events or officials corralling groups into each others paths (like the Mecca incident). This crush occurred because thousands of people rioted.

Sounds to me like they're freedom loving patriots not obeying the blatant oversteps of unelected authorities.

If they want to run, it is their constitutional right to run.
