This video is basically a Ted talk about the subject of marriage rates. It used historical trend data of marriage to plot what will happen to the state of the institution of marriage over the next generation - through extrapolation of the trends of prior generations. The lines in the graph represent the percentage of women from a certain generation who have never been married by a certain age.

From the video, Boomers married at a rate of at least 85%. This dropped to 70% in Gen X. Millenials were predicted to be married by 30 at a rate of about 50%. These predictions were made five years ago, so enough time has passed to allow us to measure their accuracy.

In actuality, the decline in the rate of marriage for millennials was much more severe than could have ever been suspected. The millennial marriage rate only seems to be only 25% - indicating that most millennials are getting old alone and have no plans for retirement or a future. In some circles, this rate of population decline would be classified as a genocide.

Certain talking heads in 2015 claimed that this trend was not going to hold. Their reasoning was that women were simply getting married later. However this has proven false over time. Older women are less likely than young ones to get married.

The reasons are various and uncertain. But the results are fairly certain. Most Millennials will not get married.

This is pretty bad, and the only thing that can reverse it at this point is a change in marriage law and the culture imo. I'm not sure how a civilization can survive otherwise, because immigration and low marriage/birth rates are unsustainable in the long term.

The reason is pretty obvious. It's the same reason home ownership and full time employment is down. Economic prosperity is just not going to as many people as it used to, and as a result people are delaying, often indefinitely, these kinds of milestones.

Anything short of a reversal of the neo-liberal / neo-conservative capitalism we've experienced since the 80's will result in the same or worse trends.

Another casualty of capitalism honestly
The price of a wedding is astronomical compared to the median amount of savings people have. Combine that with high divorce rates in the US and its a recipe for disaster

Men are confronted daily with a false image of beauty on social media with women who present themselves as perfect through a process of editing with filters, layers upon layers of makeup, shaving their bodies smooth like seals, and extensive plastic surgery. the same landscape of false femininity can be seen in pornography as well as a slew of sexual acts its not reasonable to expect form an actual woman. combining the two young men are desiring a type of woman who is a fantasy, and are less than motivated to invest financially and in their time in real women.

its the type of problem many 1980s and 1990s women had with TV, movies, and romance novel men who portray an unrealistic ideal mate. although women seem to have set aside the lunacy better. likely because men biologically seek a place to release sexually but women desire support and protection. it's easier to settle for a roof over your head than it is to decline unlimited free internet pornography.

before there was an order of operations, which was get an education -> get a career -> meet someone -> get married -> buy house/have children (this last one can vary in order)

now this worked well for many (not all) and society flourished pretty well. but some decided that this wasn’t good enough and now it is correct to just do whatever one wants in no particular order and skip steps as one desires
