When the TV that was turned to the news got to the topic of Obama's running announcement an old guy says to the room "I aint votin for no nigger", and was met with applause from basically the whole room.

People think racism isn't common, but it is. It's still super common. Those places haven't really changed since 2007, like at all.

Yeah I stayed in St Louis for a year and it had an amazing black/Asian/Indian community I interacted with daily. No problems with racism etc but then on occasion I’d have to go to St Charles and that place was a shitshow in comparison. Had tons of terrible experiences and pretty sure my Indian friends car got vandalized at work just for him driving a nice Infiniti as a minority. I can only imagine it’s gotten worse since people have been emboldened

I live in that area now. The city is pretty great, but the second you leave it's stupid redneck central.

Now imagine going to the boonies instead of a suburb. It gets way worse.
