there appears to be a disproportionate coverage of white women as victims in media compared to their non white counterparts

is this an example of systemic racism?

Zach Sommers, a criminologist and author of the Northwestern study, told CNN that bias and systemic racism play a role in Missing White Women Syndrome -- a term he said was coined by the late TV news anchor Gwen Ifill.
"As a culture we are readily willing to accept stories about White folks as victims as something we should care about," he said. "When we see a White person who has gone missing, we say that could be my daughter, neighbor or cousin or friend... and they identify with that person and are more likely to read the story than we would if it were a person of color."

Its less of an example of systemic racism and more of an example of prejudice.

When a black woman goes missing, its all part of the plan - everybody expects black women to go missing, because black men beat and kill their women on a daily basis.

But when a pristine white woman from the suburbs goes missing in a grisly manner? Well that's headline worthy news, because that's sensational - that doesn't happen.

Its also worth noting btw that the black news anchor you took the article from could have also taken the opportunity to talk about a specific black woman who went missing that day, but instead chose to jump on the piggy back of Gabby's headlines and pontificate about racism.

Race is irrelevant, once the great asteroid hits the planet we'll all be the same color, black burnt charcoal.
I for one can't wait!

Which race person is most likely to say something like race don't matter? Curious.

Generally its someone with an IQ above 100.

So the argument you're implying here is actually correct!

Typically, per capita - its Asians and Whites who would make an argument such as this.
