Does anyone else share this belief?

Consider the whole bullshit going on right now. I mean.. wear a mask, get a vaccine, potentially save your life and protect the lives of the people around you. Seems like a slam dunk?

If our society struggles this much with something so straight forward, I cannot help believe that the future is doomed. There will be a lot of very difficult choices and times this century, from ramped up effects of climate change, to implications of mass debt, plus the usual unforeseen calamities. I cannot help but think about WW2 and the draft, the at-home rationing and war effort, etc. Our current society would lose that war.

i have a lot of hope for society, that one day, not so near in the future, a disease more serious than covid will just thanos snap out anyone unwilling to make common sense concessions and we can then prosper in the world they and their mountain dew addicted rotten toothed children leave behind.

we'll replace the jobs they can no longer do with robots. burger flipping, road construction, and assembling robots.

we'll put their trailers into a trash compacter without even combing through them for personal belongings that may be of value, because there are of course none worthy of the effort.

social security will be fixed over night, and we'll distribute the funds they so graciously left behind to decent human beings, now unburdened by healthcare because universal healthcare will be passed unanimously by the senate of 98 democrats and 2 independents who only ran as a green party candidate to look cool.

lacking surviving estate holders they will be cremated and their graveyards will not be 6 foot spaced gravestones but instead a single pillar monument ala a war memorial will be errected, not containing their names or birth/death dates but simply their initials. not even punctuation or delineations for Junior will be made.

soon after the event itself will be removed from textbooks so the next generation need not even be troubled with learning of their existence. the robots were always here, and even helped the north win the civil war. "whats the civil war" a starry eyed youth asks inquisitively. "oh, nevermind. i misspoke" the nonbinary teacher of History of Sexual Identity responds, a wry grin on Xer face. "nothing at all". The child is confused, but confusion they have learned is a feeling one gets when content. They'll sleep this night blissfully unaware of what the world once was, as they always have.

Who really cares? The next 10 generations will be fine. Eventually the lights will shut off but we won’t be bothered

problem is 100M+ people (now nearly 200M) in the USA alone did this, and were told by medical experts and govt leaders in May that it was “mission accomplished” on covid, and that masks were no longer needed if vaccinated.

4 months later those same forces now tell the fully vaccinated that if they do not wear two masks alone while walking their dog or driving a car alone they are “super-spreaders”, and that you are a “super-spreader” even though fully vaccinated, and that the unvaccinated are nuclear bomb-tier threats to those who are fully vaccinated (even if masks are worn)

No, I think societies will step to the occasion. While it's extremely disappointing that America failed miserably when it came social responsibility during the pandemic, it wasn't a catastrophic event IMO. The worst case projections indicated that we would have 6 million dead and that was mainly due to people not being able to be treated for preventable conditions throughout the nation. 6 million people out of 330 million is a small number compared to say the Soviets during WW2. Hard times create hard people.

That isn't to say we should do nothing and accept 6 million losses which is what some on the right wanted. Rather, we want to do everything within reason to keep our extremely high quality of life. Perhaps your question should be: "Will we be able to keep our high quality of life in the future" and I think that answer is no. That doesn't mean we're "screwed" it just means that we'll have to accept the reality we live in and adapt.

COVID has a 0.01% mortality rate in people under the age of 55.
Its not serious and does not deserve any of the measures being implemented.
The measures are entirely to strip your rights and freedoms one by one and if you dont see that youre blind, whether purposely or simply out of naivety.

No one is trying to "strip your rights and freedoms one by one." You are so insignificant in the eyes of powerful people that they simply don't care about you and your freedoms.

Imagine going on about rights and freedoms while summarily ignoring the responsibilities that go hand in hand with said rights and freedoms.
