This type of behavior is in no way practiced by just one side, this is an act we've seen repeated over and over by both sides.

Fleeing votes, a similar case in Wisconsin comes to mind where democrats fled a vote by Scott Walker as governor, and later the Republicans fled a vote under Evers the democratic governor.

In the federal legislature we have poor attendance even on typical legislative votes, and ABYSMAL attendance when bills are being read in their entirety.

If this is your job you should be ready and able to vote, attend meetings, attend readings, etc 5 days a week. Minimum. Monday through Friday 8-10 hours a day.

If you have official business back in your district or scheduled vacation there should be a robust proxy voting system in play.

agreed with the poor attendance part being rampant throughout all levels of government. at this point with zoom and teams calls, these taxpayer leeches should be available 8 am - 6 pm Mon-Sat. Just to piss the state worshippers off, give them Sundays off on the basis the Bible tells us to rest that day

ya these stains on humanity make decisions that affect millions of hard working people that get fired for missing a day of work unscheduled, but can also fly off to cancun when shit hits the fan with their family and friends. or just take an unscheduled vacation week for "no reason" as soon as a vote comes up they know they'll lose.

the "death of democracy" is of course NOT when republicans ramp up their voter suppression and disenfranchisement to 11, when they try to overturn elections because they don't like the outcome, when they close polling stations, destroy the postal service, encourage their followers to storm the capitol, when they exclusively do the bidding of their donors, rather than following the will of the people - no, it's when democrats are using a legislative loophole in a last-ditch effort to prevent restrictive voting legislation (won't work anyway). pearl clutching and hypocrisy have reached peak levels, lol...

Sure, he could have done so many other things to not look like a fool. However, he does perform his core job function as an elected rep for the most part whether you agree with his policy or not. Can these Texas democrats say the same?
