Billionaire richard branson is launching a flight into space today. This seems like a lot of money spent on one man's ego but if it helps to foster interest in space then im all for it. Don't think this particular technology will lead to space tourism and it doesnt even really go into space but the technology developed on this endeavor will help down the road i expect.

There is quite a bit of commentary around this launch about how the money being spent on this flight should be spent on social causes but as an engineer i love this kind of stuff and am supportive of it.

What do our resident pardians make of the way billionaires throw their money around on space projects?

We've not entirely explored Earth and we certainly have a lot of problems to fix at home. Maybe we should tidy up a bit around here before we go spreading the human virus across space.

Its sounds awesome and I support it merely for the sake of excellence.

I wouldn't ever see any long term space economy unless we can create a colony or space elevator of some sort.
