In the United States once you are convicted of any kind of sex crime weather it is a misdemeanor or a felony and have finished serving your sentence you are still subject to life time of obeying special rules just for sex offenders such as registering your address of where you live, your vehicle, job location, and phone number and failing to do so will have you incarcerated again. Not only that but there are restrictions on traveling domestically and internationally. I ask the people of D2jsp weather if you're an American or other nationality what your opinions are on this matter and if you believe the United States have gone too far as to call this a human rights violation. Even during a global pandemic sex offenders are still forced to walk into the police station to update any changes and must cooperate with police officers if they decide to enter your home just so they can get a new photo of you.

That's like asking do any criminals/offenders of any kind and degree deserve a chance? Don't be a offenderist/crimeist (that's a word I just made it up deal with it). I mean do you deserve a second chance if you drive over a speed limit? or Do you deserve a second chance because you were smashed out of your face and killed some kids while drink driving?

You do minor bad get a slap on a wrist, pay a fine, warning, don't be a naughty boy. If you do a really bad thing well don't pass go straight to jail.

I kinda feel bad for pedophiles. They are attracted to somebody who cannot consent. Not their fault. They live a tough life.

Doesn't mean you don't punish them if they give in though. Same way we don't pardon an alcoholic that drives drunk. Addiction isn't excuse, just a shitty circumstance.

The worst part is there are some that never get caught or get away with it for many years. Remember Ariel Castro? How many offenders act like normal citizens and hide in plain sight? How many have prisoners as their sex slaves? That Silence of the lambs shit is real. Your final destination may be someone’s basement or attic, and the police won’t save you.

Imagine in the future pedos rally pedo lives matter being oppressed for thousands years and ostracised by society for being attracted to someone who they cannot control.

For now it seems our society is firmly set regarding this.

The US criminal justice system doesn’t really try to prevent people from re-offending when they get out. Sex criminals are statistically likely to reoffend in this country, with or without the registry.

The system is an invasion of an offender’s privacy and dignity, but so are the crimes they were convicted of. It’s not enough to say a system is bad if you don’t have an idea of how to replace it.
