Based on your life experiences do you find the police to be helpful/usefull or do you find them useless/dangerous?

Most of my interactions with police have been positive. Any law abiding citizen who is polite when dealing with police officers has nothing to fear imo. Also well aware if you give them the slightest bit of attitude you're rolling the dice with your life so it's best to comply with whatever they're asking for in the moment.

This is a great improvement from police officers in the 3rd world who demand bribes lest they strip search your daughter who they've been eyeing up and down inside your car at a border checking point.

I think canadian police are great.

How have our resident pardians fared?

I'm on the fence. Generally positive but not without some hatred. My home has been raided in the middle of the night because somebody stole 3 packs of smokes from the 7-11 up the street. Here's the thing, they brought a weed sniffing dog to find their robbery suspect(which I later read is very wrong - their dogs are specialized for 1 purpose)

So that was fucking bullshit. Glad I didn't fit the description. Fucking idiots

I've had a lot of bad experiences. Beat up by the german police once, told a German cop not to be a sour kraut and he clobbered me. One Cincinnati officer put me in the back of a police car, drove into a parking lot, and pointed a gun at me, when I was 13ish, told me nobody would miss me. Last encounter was a speeding ticket that ended in court several months ago where I got my fines doubled fighting with the judge/prosecutor team...made a 140 ticket like 280 by the time I was done. I was taking hospital pandemic shit out on them tho and I realize that. Two officers were way too casual once when I had a friend who was shot get back in my car and I wasn't exactly sure how to get to a hospital.

Went to jail in Kentucky once because I didn't go from my front yard to my living room by the count of 3.

You took a speeding ticket to court.... and got the fine raised by fighting with the judge and prosecutor? Didn't they offer a deal with lowered fine and no points? That's what they do up here.

I had to pay the full ticket, court fees, additional court fees, and I was first to go that night so I fucked up mayors court for everyone that night.

They were like "through a state investigation it was determined.. " and I was like "well I conducted my own investigation and that cop isn't telling the truth so show me the camera". The judge and prosecutor were sitting together, probably have lunch together every day.

That is a messed up court system. Up here i get a $300 fine for speeding and 3 demerit points (im guilty ofc) so i take it to court and pay $100 and no demerit points.

They were like "is it true you have had three speeding tickets this year?" I said "it's true I've had three speeding tickets in 20+ years of driving and I've gotten three of them here this year, yep, now quit fucking harassing me and just leave me alone." Fucking garbage humans.

I felt like I had to go to court to tell them to fuck off and leave me alone so they didn't like me very well.

I don't just cosplay a cantankerous asshole on the internet.

Bad and good experiences, mostly good. One of the bad ones I was drunk and I was being an asshole (house party at my house). Talked to the cops couple days later and apologized, they did too.

Most cops just treat them like people and they’ll do the same.
