In London, UK, G7 finance ministers voted on a landmark deal to put in place a minimum corporate income tax rate on Saturday (June 5th).

It is a historic agreement that looks like a revolution. G7 finance ministers met in London on Saturday (June 5th) to discuss a global tax.
The latter concerns a minimum taxation of the profits of multinationals at 15% in order to avoid tax dumping.
"With this agreement and this minimum tax rate, we can ensure that countries and companies, wherever they operate, are on an equal footing," said Rishi Sunak, Minister of Finance of the Kingdom. -United.

"The digital giants really taxed"

This vote was made possible by the new administration Joe Biden, after Donald Trump torpedoed it three years ago.
Another measure directly targets hyper-profitable multinationals, such as digital giants. "It's historic because for the first time, the digital giants will be really taxed when they have largely escaped tax for years.
Concretely, you have a multinational that is making profits in France, that decides to relocate to a country where it pays only 1, 2 or 3% corporate tax. Well, it will have to pay the difference to France, "detailed Bruno Le Maire.

The agreement will be ratified next weekend by Joe Biden and the other G7 heads of state, and will then have to be adopted by the G20 next July in Italy.

I don't mind higher corporate tax but fuck having some global order vote on it. It should be on on the national level without foreign influence.

That's a short-sighted view unfortunately. If we want to solve the issue of tax-havens then international cooperation is the only way to do it.

Free market says they will absorb the cost to compete on price. We either need to break up these giant tech companies several times over, or we need to tax them.

Break em up, tax them AND let em pay the taxes they evaded over the years. Now that would serve them right.

If you're in support of a one world order that decides on things, we'll that's short sighted.

Nothing good comes from the country losing its sovereignty to deicison makers across the world.

the US should have divided the tech monopolies years ago, i would agree with this

aside from that this international cooperation will go down the gutter real quick, if a country desperately needs to attract some businesses

its almost funny that the countries at that table are all among those, that will lose significant parts of industries and corporate investments in the near future and/or have already done so

not a suprise that germany is a main culprit here, our socialist politicians are desperate to force corporations that want to get out into submission
