What freedom do you have though?
Its just a buzzword.
How many laws in the united states?
Online sources say that no one knows. The Internal Revenue Code alone, first codified in 1874, contains more than 3.4 million words and, if printed 60 lines to the page, is more than 7,500 pages long. There are about 20,000 laws just governing the use and ownership of guns.
New laws mean new crimes. From the start of 2000 through 2007, Congress had created at least 452 new crimes, so that at that time the total number of Federal crimes exceeded 4,450.
America has more laws than any other place on the planet, more people in prison than any first world country..
What the hell do you think freedom is?
Nothing you're saying is particularly arguable.
On the flipside, I do have the freedom to go purchase a .45 and plenty of ammunition, so if I'm attacked by a bear or wolf or mountain lion while hiking through the mountains, I can act to preserve my life. Likewise, if some crazy person busts into my home waving a machete at my wife, I can defend her life with a quick shotgun blast.
Further, should some other country attempt to invade, I can pull out whatever weapon I choose and go full retard on them in defense of my nation, without any need or requirement for government direction.
So, what freedom do I have? A fair amount, most days. How many ways are there to lose that freedom? More than I'm aware of. Our mishmash of Constitutional Law, statutory law, common law, federal/state/local laws and judgement precedent is insane. As you can imagine, I'm not a particular fan of our overly zealous legal code. Hence why a unified congress is rather nasty.
