this has a long tradition btw. there have been countless GOP lawmakers crusading against homosexuality, infidelity, abortion, and other things that go against their alleged "family values" and religious beliefs, that later were caught with their gay escorts, with their mistresses (or paying for their abortion), beating their wives, turned out to be (or cover for) sexual abusers, or (closely friends with) paedophiles themselves...

it's really widespread amongst the american right, and it really seems like they are mostly projecting when they spin their conspiracies about paedophilia and sexual misconduct - otherwise their target should definitely be their own side...

You can find deranged, mentally unstable, pedophiles, etc. among any large groupings of people. You seem to love to extrapolate and group "the right" in a basket.

i agree with the very first sentence, the rest is just apologetic bs and personal bias. maybe try to read a bit more carefully too, because what i'm saying is NOT that every right winger is a paedophile, but that there has been a substantial cumulation of paedophiles and deviant behaviour amongst people who publicly crusade against those very things. they happen to be predominantly (ofc not exclusively) on the political right - the same side that constantly touts their "family values", which makes it particularly egregious, hypocritical, and noteworthy.

furthermore, the fact that baselessly accusing 'the left' of paedophilia is a prominent part of the qanon conspiracy cult, while many of their own leaders and idols have been exposed for that very thing (or close connections / or covering for it) should also not be downplayed by simplistically stating "you'll find bad people everywhere". context matters, you know? see, that's my problem with the 'all sides / both sides' crowd: if you made that your mantra, and brainlessly reply with lazy false equivalences to every issue, you're really helping those that are worse.
