Thou shalt not kill. This has been embedded in just about every part of the world as the a basic guiding principle and law.

There are grey areas in this though. One I wanted to explore what about self defense and how far is a reasonable self defense. For instance you are being held at a gun point by a mugger or robber goes into your house and you are faced with either the kill or be killed situations.

Then another scenario lets say you have been put on a hit list by a mafia or some gang and you go out with a rifle and shoot up their entire gang like John Wick and say it was in self defense.

A third scenario is when you hear the lord speak to you and gives you holy crusade mandate to take out the opposition

A fourth scenario is when you are stranded on a boat or an island and in order to survive you must kill the other guy and eat him.

A fifth scenario you sell people cigarettes knowingly they will kill someone but over a long time or at least shorten their life

4. Okay (more like delicious)
5. Okay

It’s more “thou shall not murder” in society.

Does the commandment specify a species? I am unaware of any line claiming the Bible only applies to humans.

I would like to add a sixth scenario

Your pet is miserable in the throes of death, you can end end it’s suffering with a vet visit (put down) or a bullet or you can follow the word of god(?) and watch it suffer needlessly.

Seeing this and how Jesus himself underwent capital punishment, there is no absolute restriction on facilitated death.

The bible gives passages for specific situations, like if a robber is in your home at night then you kill him.. and if during the day, you make him a slave.

This is why it's important for people to interpret the Bible's message rather than parsing the language and hanging on every literal translation.

Why would it choose? this is extremely unlikely scenario in the first place? Which makes me wonder why would anyone engage in astronomically unlikely what ifs in the first place other then sheer boredom of their lives
