With all the stuff going on with the right being silenced on the internet. Feels like 1984 is coming to life even more. Yall read the book before? I remember the first time I read it when I was a teenager and then like 15 years later I read it again and I got this strange feeling like it was becoming real. If you haven't read the book check it out! Good read and creepy as hell it was written in 1949

I agree, things are coming true and a new power is rearing its head. They found loop wholes thru business in america to silence people for their profit and push an agenda/ party. So scratch speech to a degree because thats what people use for comms. More is on the way, im sure. Watch out for martial!

that's fine
but
we're still not turning into 1984
we're still not turning into brave new world
we're still not turning into idiocracy
people have been saying this shit
forever
anytime something they don't like or agree with or understand happens

I think Edward Snowden kinda proved mass surveillance was a real thing and while we still are indeed far away from Orwells dystopia, I dont think its a stretch to say its an impossible thing. Furthermore it would be irresponsible of us to pretend that something like that couldn't happen. The premise of agree with one side politically or risk your livelihood is already here and the masses are eating it up

I've read that. Also read Brave New World, The Giver, The Island, and Fahrenheit 451.

Brave New World is more accurate in this day and age honestly. THe government doesn't need to brainwash people if 70% of people are too lazy and self indulgent to care about tyranny.

All of those books should be mandatory in the modern age.

Well said, I agree they should make high school kids read them. I remember we had to read the giver when I was in school.

"What is: the right being silenced on the internet. More histrionic comments made by conservatives, for 500, alex".
