Why are people so focused on the left being bad??? What about the Right???
It is historically proven that the far right has been much worse than the far left.
People who voted for Bernie Sanders and wanted universal heath care for all Americans were told this would bring America socialist tyranny. And yet it is Trumpism that has convinced followers that all the judges in over sixty lawsuits that rejected voter fraud claims were traitors. The US Supreme Court are traitors. The man Trump appointed himself as head of cybersecurity, that said this was a secured election, is a traitor. William Bar, former Attorney General of Trump is now a traitor. And even loyal Trump supporter Vice President Mike Pence, that refused to do something he legally has no right to do, is now a traitor. I suppose now most Republican leadership are all considered traitors. I’m sure soon we will hear that all of these men are secret Communists.
I just want to point out that in the Western World authoritarianism has almost exclusively came from the political right. Before WWI the so-called international socialists all kowtowed to the nationalists and voted to support the war that helped destroy a good chunk of Western Civilization.
Then in Spain the right-wing anti-Socialist Franco took power as dictator. Mussolini started as a Socialist but then became an anti-Socialist nationalist creating fascism. Hitler followed suit in Germany and blamed Jews for Communism. When the Nazis occupied a huge part of France the French conservative nationalist Marshal Pétain became dictator and justified his treacherous collaboration with invading Nazi Germany as a way to safeguard France from Communists. Portugal had the dictator Salazar in power for forty years and he stated, “Now obviously our dictator ship is similar to the Fascist dictatorship in its strengthening of authority, in the war which it declares on certain democratic principles, in its nationalist character, in its maintenance of the social order.”
WWII was started by and made by the anti-Communist far-right. The Communists and Socialists all fought against these dictatorships. And after WWII only the Portuguese Communists ever fought stepping down after losing elections.
In the US the Communist Party was never much over 75,000 members. The KKK at one time reached about 4 million (some estimate much higher). But here we are with a US President that once made a Tweet from Mussolini and stated infamously “I could ... shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters.” And some of you worry about Communists?
I forgot to mention the US Civil War. As Texas stated “Hostility to these Southern States and their beneficent and patriarchal system of African slavery,” and “proclaiming the debasing doctrine of equality of all men, irrespective of race or color-- a doctrine at war with nature, in opposition to the experience of mankind, and in violation of the plainest revelations of Divine Law. ” These were not proclamations coming from Socialists.
This is a long way of me saying history shows what political trends have been the real threat to democracy in the Western World. And we just watched another example of it.
Stalin and Mao dwarf those death totals on their own with no assistance. It is a matter of record. Socialism has caused more deaths than any other ideology in the history of the human race.
