All of this discussion is a deceptive waste of time.

The Democrats snuck in a section into the bill to make torrent possession a felony.

This is a multimillion dollar proposal organized by billionaires in Hollywood. This wording is meant to put movie theaters out of business and create a hollywood monopoly on entertainment.

Trump should not sign the bill.

As much as i loathe Trump, i hope he wont sign it too.

I love that the president is actually fighting for more money for normal people, but I hate that he waited until the last minute to actually fight for it instead of doing this weeks or months ago. He's incompetent, which I like when he is trying to do something I hate, but that also means he's bad at doing anything I want him to do.

And even though I like that they want more money for average Americans those average Americans who are on unemployment or about to be evicted are now super vulnerable.

So this is a no-win situation. Just like most of the pandemic has been.

I'm aware of the felony streaming rule that was put in the bill, which makes it a potentially criminal act to stream depending on how you do it, but I haven't heard anything about torrenting. I'm pretty sure it won't pass constitutional muster since there's no reason torrents can't be used for legal purposes.

This means that torrent sites will be shut down by the feds and ordinary citizens will have no access.

Using torrents for illegal activity is already potentially criminal. This bill's streaming rule changes nothing about that. It just expands the same laws to streaming, which currently has no criminal component.

Don't worry though, you have to be truly egregious to get a criminal charge. It's hard to move something like this from civil to criminal.

Because Hollywood donates millions of dollars to the DNC every year.
