Amazon apparently copies the stuff that sells well to crush people who do well on their platform. This is some evil shit and amazon needs to be broken up i say.

At its height about a decade ago, Pirate Trading LLC was selling more than $3.5 million a year of its Ravelli-brand camera tripods—one of its bestselling products—on Amazon, said owner Dalen Thomas.

In 2011, Amazon began launching its own versions of six of Pirate Trading’s top-selling tripods under its AmazonBasics label, he said. Mr. Thomas ordered one of the Amazon tripods and found it had the same components and shared Pirate Trading’s design. For its AmazonBasics products, Amazon used the same manufacturer that Pirate Trading had used.

Amazon priced one of its clone tripods below what Mr. Thomas paid his manufacturer to have Pirate Trading’s version made, he said. He determined it would be cheaper to buy Amazon’s versions, repackage and resell them than to buy and sell them on the terms he had been getting; he decided not to do that.

Amazon suspended Pirate Trading camera tripod models that competed with the AmazonBasics versions repeatedly, Mr. Thomas said, alleging his tripods had authenticity issues. Amazon rarely suspended the tripod models that didn’t compete with AmazonBasics versions, he said. In 2015, Amazon suspended all Ravelli products, he said, and even though the suspension ended, his company’s tripod business is now a fraction of the size it was. Mr. Thomas said he found being a seller on Amazon too risky and has largely pivoted to real-estate investing.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The rumors are that your every motion is tracked while working in an amazon warehouse, and that a bunch of employees piss their pants because there isnt enough time for bathroom breaks.

The workers should unionize too and put bezos in his place.

He couldn't patent the design?

People will criticize capitalists calling capitalism bad, but its more nuanced than that and a matter of function vs dysfunction.

Acquaintance works in Amazon corporate. They had him work in the warehouse for a week or so to see what it's like and gain perspective. His feedback was that concerns are overblown, it's not bad and the workers have plenty of time to get to where the computer tells them to go unless they're completely obese.

they also intentionally slow down operations whenever someone special comes to the building to make it look safe 😌 and when they leave they turn it to overdrive to make up for the bad numbers earlier 😎

Amazon Web Services is also a big evil IMO. They typically cost more than other hosting and service providers, and now they are polluting the job market with 'Amazon XYZ Certification' requirements on job applications which is a HUGE slap in the face to any ABET accredited professional. Corporations love paying the AWS fees though, they just bleed out money to Bezos.

Then when the US gov awards a 'cloud' contract to someone other than Amazon, they cry foul.
