Isn’t inhumane to keep an animal locked up all its life?

To cage birds
To walk dogs on leashes
To not let the cat out
To have fish in a tank
To control an animal all its life.

All for the sake of psychological solace (humans obviously).

Wouldn’t it be better for these creatures to live free?

For the birds to fly
For the dogs to run in packs
For the cats to meow at night
For the fish to swim without limits
For them to prosper and not property

Don’t these animals deserve happiness (obviously without humans)?

We can't manage to overcome racism, much less speciesism.

Human beings will destroy the earth for every living creature so it doesn't matter. And if we are the only planet with complicated life, humans, through industry, will kill all life in the universe.

my animals have cages to sleep in but i don't close the cage unless there's something going on like

1) birds - if the doors have to be open
2) rabbits - if there's some maintenance that's being done
3) hamsters - if barriers are not set up properly or won't be home for a while
fishes - if low humidity in air

I have dogs, cats, fish, have drawf puffer fish, had a turtle for awhile, had guinea pigs....

....grew up in a cramped apartment with four people and could never have them as a kid...now that I've reached affluence as an adult and can afford to take care of them, i will be surrounded by living creatures. My bedroom has massive greenhouse windows so my bedroom is practically a jungle. Ironically i had to get rid of my 150 gallon SA cichlid tank when we bought this huge house because i didn't have room for it, per my wife.

90% of animals in nature die painfully. Life is inhumane, get over it
