Is it Hispanics who are complaining? No, they celebrate Columbus day as Dia de la Raza. Hispanics recognize the difficult history involved with their ancestry and they decided to empower themselves by celebrating the birth of their race. I applaud them for understanding the complexity of European colonization.
The people complaining are white liberals. Anyone who has stuck their nose in a fucking book knows that Columbus Day is effectively Italian-American Day. Why are Italians so important? Because we significantly improved this country. Before we came here, America was a bunch of Amish faggots, Protestant scum, Negroes, drunk Indians, and railroad building Chinamen. White people treated us like second class citizens. In order to assimilate and prove our love for this country, we had to adopt a mediocre man as our hero. There are so many more Italian men deserving of honor but we had to choose Columbus because WASPs are fucking scum.
So, make sure you celebrate Columbus Day by grabbing a slice of pizza, some cold cuts, donating a blanket to an Indian Reservation, etc. Give a warm thank you to any person of Italian descent. Without them, you'd be nothing.
