as if the ballot counter making $17/h is a forensic signature expert...
a squiggle here and wiggle there, good enough on to the next
they have tens of thousands of tasks per person
think about who is doing the counting. put your own self "in their shoes"
do you think they are using magnifying glasses to determine whether the angle of the letter Y is similar enough to previously scribed notes?
c'mon, man!
Ohio, in particular, has different standards per county for signature verification. Ballot processing, which includes signature verification, begins before election day so they can spread out the work. I don't think election workers are in any hurry to get the job done. In addition, suppose that someone ATTEMPTED to do this and were caught. You're looking at a pretty stiff penalty for tipping the scales by 1. Who in their right mind would do that. If the penalty for littering resulted in the removal of your hand, would you intentionally litter?
Here in CA, verification is done electronically. Rejected signatures are verified by committee and the voter is contacted.
As I said before, I'd be more worried about my vote NOT counting than someone impersonating my vote because the probability of that happening is orders of magnitude higher.
