A French engineer has come with an innovative idea. He’s created a pop-up igloo that can be easily erected to comfortably fit a person. Made from polyethylene foam, which is then covered with aluminum foil. This double layer prevents the freezing temperature from affecting the interiors, as it remains around 15° warmer than the temperature outside. These insulated igloos also absorb bodily heat and solar lighting to naturally raise the temperature while still providing privacy. These igloos can easily compact, are repairable, waterproof, and recyclable.

Where do they take shits?

Interesting idea, good intentions, but certainly doesn't solve 'homelessness', both as a social issue or on the individual level. These really provide shelter, particularly sleeping shelter, but =/= a 'home'.

How exactly is "keeping the temperature 15° warmer than outside" gonna be a feasible option in northern regions (Canada, Minnesota and so on) where winter comes with blistering cold?

yeah I don't see how a 'shelter' with no living room, no water, no food, no toilet, no healthcare is going to solve a crisis of people who weren't freezing to death en masse even in states where it gets -40

seems warmer then a tent. Add body heat + sleeping bag + some warm clothes and it ain't so bad. Better then sleeping on a park bench.

Doesn't actually solve homelessness, just makes it more bearable

Need to solve local code, ordinances, legal type blockers first. US housing blocks most innovative living situations in favor of big box living.

This kind of project is never followed by cities because it can attract *more* homeless people in the areas were these "igloos" are available.
