I'm curious as to how many of you vote: a) Libertarian b)third party

I'm voting for Jo Jorgensen in the upcoming election. I get a lot of pushback from friends and peers who say the same thing, "You're wasting your vote".. Well, I'm not insecure enough to actually listen to that ridiculous groupthink and want to still vote third party. I have convinced about 20-30 people to do the same; they're all regularly posting on social media now, which is how I know, and mainly in support of Jo Jorgensen. Since the duo poli system has gotten to the point it has, I was wondering if there are people out there who are on the borderline and considering voting duopoli becuase they "dont want to waste my vote".

My question is: Do you have any other reason to vote for Trump/Biden beside someone telling you it will be a wasted vote?

genuinely curious.

Technically you can vote for trump a second time and expect to get a civil war or apocalypse, at this point "jojo" could have a chance to exist.
You may also vote Biden and expect a libertarian wave ? GL

This will not be my first time voting for the libertarian for president, it probably won't be the last.

I used to vote 3rd party but I've given up on that. Unless a third party candidate is polling equally in a state i.e. Ross Perot or Evan McMullin (Utah), it's a wasted vote. Every democracy has a majority/minority dynamic where parties band together and America's is no different. Instead of having multiple explicit parties that form coalitions after an election, America creates coalitions DURING the primary. There's probably 3 or 4 parties built into the Democrat party and a minimum of 4 for the Republican party. Once you reach the general election, one of the parties will become the minority party and the other the majority. You can read more about the reason why here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duverger%27s_law
Voting in a primary is your best chance to have your voice heard. You really have the opportunity to push a particular party in the direction that you like most. However, once everyone settles on a candidate, it's time to back that candidate. We live in an era of extreme negative partisanship so you often vote for the lesser of two evils because ONE of them is going to win. That's 100% guaranteed.

As for my vote, the reality is that it's between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. There are some things that Trump does that pleases me and there are some things that Biden will do that please me. At the end of the day, I think Biden is the better option between the two so he'll get my vote.

If this were legitimate logic, then voting for anyone but the winner is a wasted vote. This logic is specious.

Not quite. I'm arguing that in our system, voting for anything that doesn't have a CHANCE of winning is wasted. I think we can all agree that the current system doesn't represent the population very well and we'd be better off with an alternative voting system. Personally, I'm a big fan of multi-member districts.
