The claim of no corroborating evidence is a weird one. All of these denials from officials are short and murky, which tells us something. Are they claiming that SF didn't find a bunch of money with Taliban-linked groups, and they didn't obtain information that led them to suspect it came from the Russians?
If I were you cult members, I'd probably start to shift to "nothing matters lol" like you always do, because based on the evidence so far, it looks like the NYT's initial story was probably accurate.
