While corona is dominating the news cycle China is drafting legislation to end the separation of China and Hong kong, will link articles when I get home.

Yeah, they drafted a new "security bill" that would criminalize any and all criticism of the government, and are trying to enact this bill via decree, bypassing the democratically elected parliament of HK.

This could be another Tiananmen.

Let's hope not.

I was in HK in Oct 2019 and went to Prince Edward to check out the protests for the 'culture'.

I hope the pro-democracy people win, but they almost certainly won't. China's influence has metastasised into their once sacred institutions, the freedom of the press has decreased significantly since we handed the keys over in '98.
