It looks like the us govt is approving use of tax payer funds to help mosques survive during the pandemic

Where do our resident pardians stand on this issue? Where do our constitutionalists stand?

"Faith-based organizations are eligible to receive SBA loans regardless of whether they provide secular social services," the SBA said in a statement. "No otherwise eligible organization will be disqualified from receiving a loan because of the religious nature, religious identity, or religious speech of the organization."

Don't have an issue with providing loans. Many churches have various types of counselors on staff that provide services. It would be discriminatory to provide loans to some sort of psychologist office while denying a similar type of practice based on the fact that its run by a church.

Agree.

/e I'll go even further. I would set limits on how many and how large, churches of any stripe... can be.

I think that if a church/mosque/temple is affected by a natural disaster, they should be allowed to have access to the same funds that any other group has access to.

As far as unemployment is concerned, I think it's fair to treat them as "furloughed" which entitles them to some benefits. Religious institutions should receive the EXACT same treatment as anyone else. They should not be preferred and they should not be discriminated against.

No it wouldn't. The psychologist office pays taxes.

So does the Church employee. Church counselors who are paid by the church get taxes deducted just like everyone else.

The loans are largely forgivable according to the article

I'd imagine these places of religious worship only cater to members of their group

Are you ok with your tax dollars funding muslim counselors advising muslim couples on marital matters when there are counsellors who do not discriminate their clientele based on religion?
