I’m aware that there is a thread but it’s 300 pages and I’m not reading that bullshit.

What are your guys’ post-virus plans? Do you anticipate your lives to be drastically different when this whole thing ends?

For me, the bar I work in may be closed for all I know and therefore there is a lot of uncertainty coming my way in the coming 6 months - 1 year (or more; who knows?).

I’ve been thinking of taking a cross country trip when it ends. The isolation I’ve had to endure during this whole thing is really getting to me and while I understand it is a secondary (or lower) variable my ego and self-worth have been devastated as I’ve been forced to rely on government welfare for subsistence. I’ve always been one to work and this is the first time I’ve been unemployed, while at least not looking for one every day.

If it weren’t for my cat and girlfriend I’d have gone insane by now probably lol.

Anyways, what post-virus plans ya got? Gonna do some investing, travel, career or educational training perhaps?

Covid-19 will become endemic to our species on a yearly cycle similar to the flu, and it will kill all of the fat people.

Nothing much else will change.

My life has changed very little so far, and I expect it will have changed even less afterwards.

Though, most of that is because my boss is a genuinely great person who went above and beyond to make sure I'm getting paid. I have to be at work 7 days a week until the end of April, but that's quite a bit better than not having work at all.

Once I get that fat government check I'll have the last of my high interest debt paid off, by the end of the year we will likely have both of our cars paid off, and from there I have no idea.

I will likely come out of this having $2400 more than I otherwise would have, mainly because I'm not invested right now, and I'm not invested right now because all of our spare cash goes towards that high interest debt.

So I'm very lucky.

Depends if it mutates enough before we get a mass vaccination effort underway. It probably will though.

I would definitely recommend going on that cross-country trip if it's something you haven't done before. A friend and I did a 2-month roadtrip living out of my car last summer and it was one of the best experiences.

The only major thing covid-19 will have on an impact on for me personally is the requirements for the graduate program that I'm in, which is to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. Everyone has to complete a certain number of clinical hours within their program in order to apply to be an associate with the BBS after graduation. Unfortunately, this was our first semester that we were able to start working with clients, but that only lasted about 4 weeks before the school converted to online entirely. In our role as practicum students we're unable to do telehealth, so we effectively have no clients again until August because the school's psychological services aren't open during the summer. The only other option is to get a supervisor at a community agency to collect hours, but that's especially difficult as they're going through their own changes over covid-19.

There's efforts by program coordinators to talk with the BBS to lower the number of hours needed in order to graduate, but nothing has been decided just yet.

Its a retrovirus, which mutates extremely often. In addition it behaves similar to HIV-1 in that it suppresses the immune system, hence the two-week latency in most individuals.

Imo its going to be more complicated than a one-off fix and a stiff wake up call to everyone who has been neglecting their health.

i’m lucky that my shop is able to function on a remote basis so relatively speaking i am quite fortunate to have minimal disruption thus far. i can still exercise and get food and essentials in short order too - again very fortunate for this. so many industries and people are crippled to the brink due to the covid-19

as for when this all settles down i’m going to my favorite neighborhood bar (hope it survives - it should as they are still providing food for takeout and delivery) and buying a few a lot of rounds and leaving an absurd tip to hopefully offset even a fraction oftheir struggles

after that i’ll continue to do everything possible to show gratitude to the real heroes of this travesty (medical workers, truckers, grocery store employees etc.)

You're diving way out of your own area of expertise here. All diseases that infect humans have ways to evading the immune system. HIV doesn't "suppress the immune system", it directly infects T cells.

Do yourself a favor and drop all the association between HIV and Covid, you'll be saved a lot of embarrassment when you mention it to somebody who knows what they're talking about and save yourself having spread a lot of half truths.
