Last time they did an emergency rate cut of 50 basis point was after the collapse of lehman brothers in 2008..interesting

Rates were already quite low. Feds just went from 1.75% to 1.25%, running out of buffer room. Even going from 1.75 to 1.5 would have sent a message with a lower % drop.
