My dad loved this guy and I used to watch him, and he had his funny moments.

He lost me when he was commenting on a basketball game where I think Rutgers was playing someone and he got super focused on the races of the teams...one team was white, other team was black, but otherwise both teams of college student athletes at respected universities.
