There's a ton of stuff that sent the older generations into an absolute frenzy that simply wouldn't phase somebody now.

A few things to bear in mind is that we had collective generations of Americans go absolutely ape shit over desegregation, gay rights, rock music, dungeons and dragons, etc. Millenials are honestly just used to more differing opinions due to the greater ease of access to information. Younger generations have been exposed to a much greater diversity of opinion than any generation who grew up before the internet, and it's not even close as a comparison. As a result we're much more tolerant. My generation really couldn't give a less of a shit about trans people using the same bathroom as us but it sends 50+ year olds into an absolute frenzy the same way gay rights did and the same way desegregation and rock music did to their parents.
