So details continue to roll in about the mass stabbing in London earlier today.
A suspect identified as 28 year old Usman Khan stabbed two people to death at random in public and injured 3 more before he was subdued by passersby, including a man who wielded a 5 ft long narwhal tusk taken off a wall mount and used as an improvised weapon. Upon seeing his (fake) bomb vest, police shot and killed him. Khan was an Al Qaeda terrorist who had been convicted in a 2012 plot to establish a terrorist training camp in Kashmir and to blow up the London Stock Exchange, Westminster Abbey and/or Big Ben using pipe bombs, and had drawn up lists of targets including Boris Johnson. Despite being an avowed Al Qaeda terrorist, he was imprisoned for only 6 years and released last December, and in less than a year he committed an actual terrorist attack. The only 'protection' London seemed to have from this known terrorist was that he had to wear an ankle bracelet while on parole. The sentencing judge in the 2012 case stated in court that Usman was a hardened "serious jihadist" and recommended he and the closest conspirators from the group not be allowed release until they can pose no more threat to the public. That was ignored, and this was the result.

It's pretty serious when you have someone with a known terrorist background being released back into the community? Should have deported him back to his own country if he had immigrated previously and banned him from re-entry.

So an additional detail is that the terrorist had just been attending an event on rehabilitating criminals immediately before the slaughter, and one of the guys who risked his life to run in and subdue him was a convicted murderer who was at the conference.

Remind me again why people convicted of terrorism get such light sentences?

It should be an automatic 20yr sentence if you’re convicted of terrorism.
