while ive been generally in favor of legalization, this piece brings some pretty damning effects of legalization in colorado.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2017/08/07/marijuana-devastated-colorado-dont-legalize-nationally-jeff-hunt-column/536010001/

the corruption i think is a non-issue, if they werent corrupt over this it would be over something else.

he claims that arrests for weed possession have gone up not down. how are they being arrested if its legal, tho? that makes no sense...

any other rebuttals to his points?

Weed makes you lazy in line with all of the rumors. It lowers your income as well.

I found this line particularly hilarious

"The total tax revenue for Colorado was $13,327,123,798, making marijuana only 1.18% of the state's total tax revenue"

They are trying to say that single product making up 1% of the state budget means it's not generating enough revenue LOL

There's definitely negatives to marijuana legalization, but they are worth the cost when you consider hard drug use went way down, incarceration and enforcing costs are astronomical, etc.

I find it pretty dumb that there's a "legal" way to get it and an "illegal" way to get it. If I want to grow and dry tobacco on my own property I can, why should marijuana be any different if it's otherwise legal?

The only thing holding down a leftist insurrection is marijuana.
