Do you think it ought to be illegal? Or is this a her body her choice situation?

Just started reading up on this topic and was surprised to find that its considered discrimination to refuse to serve alcohol to pregnant women. Not sure if the laws just need to catch up with the science on this one but it's not good for the child if the mother is drinking.

I suspect this issue would divide people along the same lines as abortion 🤔?

If life begins at conception then a woman who consumes alcohol, smokes, or otherwise consumes illicit substances should be arrested and charged with providing for a minor.

but I know a lady that has chain smoked for her last 3 pregnancies and it's something that drives me nuts to witness

It's fine and has been shown not to harm the fetus outside of heavy, heavy drinking in the last trimester. Americans are stupid fucks with weird social rules. Only about 5 percent of alcoholic women-who drink at minimum a six pack every single day of the week- give birth to babies who are later diagnosed with fetal alcohol syndrome.
