Yet another example of a "please help us US calls. Calls that will be denied by college kids 20-30-40 years later. Calls that if answered will turn into: "The US should mind their own business", at some point down the road.

Hong Kong activist seeks U.S. support for pro-democracy protests

Similar instances in the past...

Korea, Nam, middle east.

This happens over and over. People ask for help from the US, then down the road a ways... the US gets blamed for interfering. It's almost like the world thinks the US is good for nothing but enforcing "their" desires.
I got news for people. We don't spend zillions of dollars in tax money for a military... to work for others.
It's long past time for all these socialistic countries to pay for their own militarys, so they can defend/enforce their OWN desires.

Maybe this time, WE can sit back and watch others handle this crap.

/e Side note... they didn't ask the US first. They asked the UK first.

Iran is baiting us into attacking so they can use us an a unifying force on their own people. The Iranian people have little confidence in their government, but a US led attack would force them behind Iran's current government. If Saudis could fight a proxy war for us, it could work out well.

I think the US is learning. Now we have Israel and Saudi Arabia in the middle east to be proxy fighters for us. So if/when any blame needs to be placed, we will hopefully be out of the loop.

Hong Kong though worries me more. I'd rather we gave or sold them, w/e they need to defend themselves, rather than for us to become directly involved. I think dealing with China, strictly on trade matters is a better way to go.
This Hong Kong thing, is exactly like the Korea situation 70 years ago. China was encroaching on Korea, the south wasn't happy about it, so we went to help.
North Korea is still "encroached upon" by China, and South Korea is still unhappy about it.

Militarily, we either have to go head to head with China or just give those unhappy with China, the means to express their unhappiness. Aka, defend themselves.

Vietnam was the exact same scenario. China again, in the north, and the south unhappy about it.

Lately, the middle east is the same thing... no norths and souths to make discussing it easier, but the same situation.

I never said asking the US for help was a smart move. The ONLY good thing about it is, the US really doesn't have any "we need more land" desires. We are not imperialistic.

The problem from the US side is that not only do various countries around the world want us to send OUR sons and daughters to do their fighting for them... but THEN when all is said and done, they tend to blame the US for w/e current problems they are having.

I would just as soon see the US just send them w/e hardware they need to fight their own battles. It's good for us economically, and it also has the advantage of making those that DID win their freedom themselves, less likely to lose that freedom through laziness or lack of determination to keep it.

Imperialism is no longer about land. Modern imperialism is about controlling raw resources and markets for the crony capitalism this nation embraces above all else.
