I still haven't forgotten. Unlike most of you, I was an adult at the time, had already done tours in service of my country, and took the events of this day really personally.

Most poignant for me after all these years:

Your ability to draw a distinction between tongue-in-cheek and pompous is... lacking.

If you want something poignant then count the amount of children killed by bush unjustified wars.

Still the most impactful world event that happened in my lifetime, by far.

I hope it won't be topped (at least, by a negative event).

It's funny how this is kind of a generational divide now. I was at my alma mater for an alumni event a few months ago and where some of the people who are currently graduating remember some things about that day, none of the new students do.

Speaking of you being an adult at the time, it's interesting to think that people born on that very day are now celebrating their coming of age (in most countries anyway).

This is what happens - the people suffer for their government and military's actions. It's sick.

Spawned the forever war as a response... When people see this they get angry at Muslims. They should get angry at the USGov.
