Has there ever been a precedent in history for the collapse of civilizations under their own social altruism?
That's one issue I have with the narrative of the west falling to Islamic migration. Fundamentally, its rooted in this idea that migration can reach a point of population displacement and replacement, without acknowledging the social resistance. Societies are generally self correcting and reach tipping points where the backlash evens things out. If we had asked our forefathers about Irish or Italian migration they might say a lot of the same things, but eventually the systems reached equilibrium and a new normal.
I don't think misguided western progressivism is a stable downhill slide for societal collapse. Europe went much faster about it and saw the rapid rise of anti-immigration sentiment and Brexit.
So we'll have violent wackos who think the end is nigh and forces unstoppable and use this as justification to go out and slaughter 50 muslims in a mosque, but the fatalism is misguided, the lack of faith in society disturbing
I guess the answer is yes, mass migrations (e.g. Franks, Vandals, Slavs, Goths) have led to the collapse of the host civilization. Different situation, to be sure, but I'm not sure we've ever seen something comparable to immigration today.
More broadly, there's an inherent risk that the societal "correction" is violent or unstable. We've seen this play out, with the Weimar Republic, Czarist Russia, and Maoist China being notable examples.
I think we're fast approaching a political crisis in this country, and I'm not really sure how it will all play out.
