it's much better to go to war just to keep feeding your already overblown 'defence' industry, killing hundreds of thousands of people (including americans) so that some fat old rich people get even richer, for oil, and to distract from domestic problems...

So today I was at the site of a battlegrounds where a few hundred natives of one tribe approached a few hundred of the other rival tribe under the guise of a feigned peace offer. They then ambushed them, slaughtering ~200 and leaving only a handful of survivors who had hidden. They killed almost every man, woman and child and captured only a few as slaves. Half a century later that same tribe had an uprising against the white settlers after the federal government fell behind on their treaty payments due to the ongoing civil war, and slaughtered 600-2000 white folk as they stormed up the countryside. They had a particular penchant for gangraping women, scalping men, and cutting babies out of the wombs of pregnant women and nailing them to trees.

I've got a particular bone to pick to with moral lenses that try to minimize the generality of the human condition and ignore disparities of cultural development.

If they did anything useful with what they already have I might agree.

Why give them more land to turn into slums full of drunks and junkies?
