Realistically what does a successful summit look like?

We know the Trump cultists here and in the media will declare it a success regardless of what happens. Apparently Kim and Trump will be meeting with just their translators for a couple hours... that's troubling. You have to wonder what would happen if Trump agrees to something in that meeting, but then backtracks on it because he doesn't fully understand these issues.

I'm hopeful that after these meetings there's good will shown on both sides and a commitment to continue serious talks. This is the biggest moment of Trump's presidency so far.

I'm hopeful too.

Would be incredibly interesting if things turn out the right way and the path to reunification opens up.

Fingers crossed. We really are at a turning point, unfortunately during the term of the stupidest man ever to hold the office of PotUS. It won't be long before NK achieves a degree of nuclear party and once that happens it's a whole different ballgame.

I also wonder what the average North Korean thinks about Kim sitting down to chat with their #1 enemy. A question that's hard to answer... Maybe it would be a good question to ask the next defector that washes up in Japan.

NK would commit to denuclearization and to giving its citizens rights slowly in exchange for US protection.

Do I think this will ever happen? Not really

well, considering that emperor bonespur and all his cultists labeled the iran deal, which effectively halted iran's nuclear weapons program, the 'worst deal in history', the least we can expect from 'the best deal maker in history' is a complete and permanent denuclearisation, and significant improvements concerning nk's human rights violations and living standard of the nk population.

given spanky's negotiating prowess and flawless record on the world stage, i wouldn't be surprised if we saw kim just throwing in the towel and agreeing to a reunification of the peninsula under democratic rule and leadership, but maybe trump can postpone that to get a second nobel peace price later. 4d chess anyone?

seriously though, for now i'm happy with anything that's objectively better than the 'terrible' iran deal. should be easy enough for him...

I heard someone say that Kims plan is to agree to partial denuclearization so NK can begin getting some foreign aid, then just start their nuclear program again in a few years when they have more resources. Not sure if true but sounds plausible.

well, that's how the last couple of negotiations with north korea went.
emperor trump, who is famous for his geopolitical knowledge, diligent preparation, and unrivaled work ethic is of course aware of that, and his god given negotiating talent will allow him to do much better than previous administrations, who made america a complete laughing stock in the eyes of the world. those days are over...
