Absolutely, it is the best reason for leaving the door unlocked, though that would be irresponsible. There isn't an excuse to trespass on someone's property, especially around where I live, everyone is armed and knows how to shoot.

there was a case recently where a guy set up a trap or baited a thief allegedly and shot him dead in his garage. He was found guilty of murder. I mean do you think a petty thief deserves to be shot dead? again what if its just some drunk person who made a few bad choices in his life and drank way too much, trying to get home but he somehow ends up in your place..

Exactly that, I wouldn't be as obvious though, I would make sure the intruder wasn't someone who could sue me back either, I live in Florida bud and we can shoot whoever we like.

Of course not, I don't live in the USA, here every thief actually rings the buzzer or knocks first to make sure there's no one before intruding.

And even then, besides one case if a, bunch of drunk teenagers who wanted to beat up a senior citizen, if the person comes in while you sleep, we're taught in school to fake like he didn't wake you up, then just call the cops and wait to be refunded by insurance.
