They'll need more than a profession to survive. Give your kids the tools and courage to self service everything, else they'll be left further behind. Things like buying used, fixing, self-maintenance, reselling. Able to navigate permits and get household projects done. Ability to live with less. Take opportunities when liabilities are low. Absolutely valid point. I dont want to say the millionaire garbage man is the exception to the rule because something can be said about someone's conviction for sucess and, also having the tools for success. But what will the future demands be if the bar keeps rising without resistance. What will be required of you to have success and ultimately security, and will that pathway be generally attainable.
Perhaps mine might make it through without full gov't dependance, but grandkids, not so sure.
Ultimately I see automation of nearly everything and a UBI being the only real solution, but that UBI will result in the minimal to live. The wealthy / those already on the other side of the wealth gap will benefit most from nearly fully robotic autonomy.
There's minimal guardrails in place currently, consumer rights are being stripped , consumer protections removed. Were setting up for a very dystopian future.
It feels like we're exiting a world where you can expect to afford to close your door to the world. What concerns me is that at what point will people have totally forgotten what kind of world was possible when people had their own implied borders and could create their own communities and culture.
