I grew up in a Christian family and attended a very conservative church for nearly 2 decades. So, as a gay man, this is a topic that affects me personally. Hopefully this will help someone else here.

That thing you said about ancient Greece is wrong. Young men were not trying to preserve their virginity, virginity was not even a concept applied to men.

The justification the ancient greeks used for gay sex was that if you were fucking someone, you were the man. If you were getting fucked, you were a bitch. There was no possible gay relationship between equals in ancient Greece.

What does this book say about sex outside of marriage / sex in marriage?

I strongly believe there are sound society building reasons for sex to remain in the confines of marriage, inclusive to gay marriage.
