Got another really confusing batch of legislation here that's going to start around January 1st with about five states rolling in the changes.

This is being heralded by The usual suspects as "the end of lazy whales." But in reality it's not even in all inclusive ban on sugar or chips or anything for that matter.

The "ban" if you can even call it that in states that are participating that include well would you look at that, Texas and Florida, only includes certain snack foods narrowed down by brand and not what it actually contains so if you're a fan of chips ahoy or Oreos then bad luck pal, but the store brands are all perfectly fine to stock up on. Additionally what is banned in absolutely none of the states participating are things like maple syrup chocolate syrup baking goods like chocolate bars or chocolate chips, as well as a myriad of other things like those listed. So if this really was the end of the war on fatties like Boomer tiktokers would have you believe, why would all of these things that are 90% sugar be allowed? You can't possibly make it make sense.

What's absolutely hilarious is that some chocolate bars like Reese's or Hershey's are banned but others that are exclusively for baking will not be.

Worst of all this is going to hurt the small grocery stores and businesses the most as a lot of them need the snap income to stay afloat some months, but I'm pretty sure that's the point of this legislation anyways is to push those small businesses out so that people like Walmart can come in and pave over those small businesses.

Honestly just Texas and Florida being headliner stupid as usual. Crazy how they convinced so many other states to join in.

If you could realistically actually ensure no subsidy or food program funds of any type go twords junk food I'd be in full support but God it's impossibly unrealistic and always simple to circumvent

One can dream.

Yeah even if government could come up with an effective way to implement such controls, I know people who just buy food with their ebt and trade it for cash to buy alcohol or drugs anyway. Not saying government shouldn't attempt to manage it more effectively ofc

72% is my favorite i need that little bit more sugar. Living overseas they have 100% bars all over and it honestly tastes like trash. Peanut butter is the way to go honestly.

This is an absolutely abysmal attempt. And yet they're patting themselves on the back with an "Amazing job." Theres going to be infinitely more abuse and people going straight for the baking aisle to clear it out. It would have been better if they did nothing at all.

In ohio there are "ALLEGEDLY" some chocolate and peanut butter covered fruits that will be banned. The frozen ones from hershey and reeses. Also energy drinks that not every state is participating in. But fruit? YOURE BANNING FRUIT?! Really hope they decide not to do this. They are slated to have the changes roll out February 1st.
