The democrats used to always have the active voter lead in the state. But the GOP has been winning the state in recent presidential elections. In 2024, the two parties were basically tied in the active voter count. Recently, the GOP has edged ahead of the democrats with a lead of 100k voters. Pennsylvania already shifted red with the GOP now holding an active voter lead. Nevada has also flipped to majority GOP active voters. Wisconsin now has more GOP voters than democrat voters.

Its getting harder and harder for democrats to win these states.

The GOP has baked in 297 electoral votes for 2028 unless the democrats can turn these numbers around. But instead the gap is widening in favor of the GOP. The democrats can still flip some of these states with big wins among independent voters, and that may happen. But warning signs are flashing for the democrats.

New Jersey is still safe for democrats, with 2.3mm voters compared to 1.5mm GOP voters.

Minnesota and Michigan do not declare a party when they register to vote.
